In the 1920s, before City founder George Merrick began developing the City Beautiful, it was a thriving guava and avocado grove owned and operated by his family. Today, every winter, the agricultural roots of the City return to the town center in a three-month celebration of South Florida's agricultural riches. Amidst the ambience and architecture of downtown Coral Gables is what locals know as …

The Coral Gables Farmers Market is a small outdoor European-style greenmarket located in the heart of Coral Gables. The market brings to the City the freshest produce grown in South Florida where shoppers buy direct from farmers. You will find a colorful and tasty selection of just-picked local vegetables including onions, peppers, beans, eggplants, tomatoes, herbs, and sumptuous fruits ranging from the gourmet to the gargantuan. A variety of fresh-squeezed juices, milkshakes, preserves, pesto’s, chutneys, honey, and of course plenty of Dade County strawberries. There are fresh-baked pies, cakes, muffins, breads, cookies, and pastries from local bakeries, as well as a large variety of flowering plants, fruit trees, greenhouse plants, herbs, shrubs for indoor/outdoor use, and an abundance of fresh cut flowers. Oh, and don’t forget there’s Tai Chi in the park, gardening workshops, cooking demonstrations and children’s activities too!
